UniProtKB description:  Catalyzes the polymerization of L-ornithine, generating poly-L-ornithine composed of 7-12 amino acid units joined via isopeptide bonds between the carboxylate and the side chain amine. This polymer exhibits potent antifungal activity and thus may have a potential role in survival benefit for A.baumannii. The reaction occurs via ATP-dependent adenylation of the substrate. Can also adenylate D-ornithine with similar efficiency and thus may produce D-ornithine polymers.
